2009 Heater Tests at Shawville

Test HK-K18
February 7/09

Slightly warm heater - damper had been left open, with ashbox air control closed, no seal.
White Birch, 20% moisture
9 pieces, 4.5 lbs kindling, 61.6 lbs total
Pieces stacked front to back. Top ignition.
Secondary ignition happened at the rear grate, with charcoal remaining from yesterday (see animation)
Small, delayed CO spike at the beginning. Very good oxygen value
Data for calculation stopped at 88 minutes, when air control was closed.
Flue damper left open. Cold air bypass open.

Very even O2 curve, which is unusual. O2 a bit high. Will try again with smaller wood.
