Grafton Street
Rain, then sun, then rain .....
Leila's birthplace. Women used to come to the Rotunda from all over Europe to
give birth.
On the top of a double decker bus, heading up Drumcondra.
Having supper after Anna's arrival
Henry Street.
New eight million dollar Millenium Spire in the background. Locals call it the
"stilleto in the ghetto".
Trying on a hat at Cleary's. I bought a suit - Leila's cousing Lisa is getting
married.
Beshoff's fish and chips on O'Connell St.
Cleaning out Bridie's house.
Rose and Jim stopped by for tea.
Nelly & Kieran's first apartment on Sion Road. They opened a bakery there.
Seeing Anna off at Dublin airport - farewell "full Irish breakfast"
of:
-fried eggs, bacon, sausage, blood sausage, white sausage, fried potatoes, beans,
toast --- mmm.
Packing up furniture for shipping.
Movers taking out part of Leila's grandparents' Victorian wardrobe for shipment
to Canada. We saved a few nice
pieces of furniture to transplant from Leila's first house to her current one.
We stripped the linoleum off the kitchen floor - there is a nice
original terazzo floor underneath.
Lunch with Ethnia McGee at Patrick Gilbaud's, Dublin's only Michelin two star
restaurant.
The day before we left we attended Lisa Woods' wedding. The church is on an
airbase. Yes, that's a
propeller - the first transatlantic flight from east to west took off from here.
Lisa, Cillian and their parents.
Fourteen new brothers and sisters -inlaw.
Leaving the church. We went over to the officers' mess for drinks.
After that, a short drive to the Finnstown country club.
Leila and her cousin Brian.
Drinks and an Irish talk fest in the lounge before dinner.
Pair of peacocks on the roof.
Getting ready for a group photo.
Drinks before a lovely dinner. Jim, Rose, Brenda and Leila
Lisa and Brenda.
Belated blessing of the rings - the best man had forgotten them for the church
ceremony - as the priest
happened to let slip out.
Relaxing after dinner, waiting for the dance to start.
Interesting looking donkeys.
Flying out on Sunday morning. Dublin airport was a zoo - wall to wall people.
