removed.
Box wood cogs.
Used as safety brakes.
In the event that the power train jammed, the box wood cogs
would sheer off, saving the wheels with cast iron cogs.
The five cast iron pillars supporting the foundation slab straddle the
water way and the principal drive axel from the wheel to gear mechanism.
The principal transmission system located directly beneath the
grindstone.
