Cookstove combination with double flue chimney. Faced in modern burnt clay brick.
Seen here 10 years after construction.
The flue gases from the heater exit into the bench at its rear, then descend into the basement crawl
space before rising back up and entering the chimney at first floor level.
This 13 foot diversion of the gases is sufficient to maintain the crawl space air temperature above zero on even the coldest days.
